Business:
Original passport.
The passport must be valid at least 6 months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the destination country and has at least 2 blank visa pages. To make sure you can get a 10-year visa, your passport must be valid for over 12 months.
Please note: if an applicant currently holds a Dual Citizenship, please provide a copy of the biographic page of the passport for all nationalities. .
Passport-type photograph.
One digital photo. No physical photo needs to be submitted.
Business invitation letter (soft copy).
A business invitation letter from the sponsoring company in China.The letter should be printed on company letterhead stationery, addressed to the “Consulate of China, Visa Section", and signed by a senior manager and stamped with the company seal. The business letter must include the following information:
• Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.);
• Information on the planned visit (purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, relations between the applicant and the inviting entity or individual, financial source for expenditures);
• Information on the inviting entity or individual (name, contact telephone number, address, official stamp, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual);
Business Support Letter (Optional).
If working for an NGO, non-profit organization or Government a letter from the employer in the United States. The letter should be printed on company letterhead stationery, addressed to the “Consulate of China, Visa Section", and signed by a senior manager. The letter should indicate the nature of the trip to China, have a job title and a job description.
Proof of status.
A NOTARIZED copy of Green Card (both sides) or other proof of legal status in the US (such as copy of I-20, US visa, H1B approval notice, I-797, I-94 etc.)
Previous visas.
If you no longer have possession of your previous Chinese visa you may 0include a letter to the Chinese Consulate explaining when and where you received your previous visa and how the passport with visa was lost. This letter must be addressed to “Consulate of China, Visa Section”, signed & dated.
Current Valid Visa.
If you possess a valid Chinese visa under one visa class and are looking to obtain a new one under a different visa class, you must submit the passport the visa is contained in as well as complete the Consent form.
Proof of residency.
Copy of driver's license, state issued ID, or major utility bill (Water, Gas, Electric, Sewage, phone) for one of the most recent three month, showing the applicant's name and current address. Please note: address must match the address on the application form.

Invitation letter for academic exchange issued by a school in China (soft copy).
An invitation letter from the sponsoring school in China. The letter should be printed on company letterhead stationery, addressed to the “Consulate of China, Visa Section", and signed by a senior manager and stamped with the company seal. The business letter must include the following information:
